Canada inspired onigiri. I was really surprised to find these rice balls selling at the convenience store today. This after searching in vain for a Canadian food restaurant in Tokyo. I am still unsure about how 'ginger pork' is considered a Canadian flavour , but nonetheless the onigiri tasted pretty good. My Canadian onigiri flavour idea: maple bacon onigiri. Wouldn't that be nice?

I bought a taiyaki maker last week, and was kind of disappointed that the mold has the fish frowning. Are frowning fish more realistic? Do fish smile? I think I would be happier eating smiling fish.

Play We spent the day playing with painted maccaroni pieces at work today. Playing like children with no worries, no race against timed deadline, no real aim, nor any reason but to create. It was fun.

Arcs over Shinjuku Rainbows are supposed to be a good omen, right? I wonder if other people had good luck after seeing this too.

Enoshima The sky in the sea. I always forget how close such beautiful scenery can be found close to Tokyo. Looking at this scene, I was wondering about the depths of the ocean and the sky. Which of these blue absysses is deeper? But it only took a few seconds of rational thinking to be reminded that the sky goes on infinitely into space, while the ocean, deep as it may be, must have a bottom where it meets earth. Therefore, there is no contesting that the sky is much deeper than the ocean. And all it took was a second of rational thinking to ruin the perfect magic of a mysterious reflection.

Northern Okinawa, Japan Taking pictures like this makes me question reality. Did I really see this blueness with my own eyes? And was I truly happy at that time, or was it just a trifling trick of the mind?

So this is Christmas, and what have we done? Another year over, a new one's just begun. I wonder why some people try to find out more about others just so that they can look down upon them afterwards. They try to discouver scabs that can be picked afresh again and again under the guise of "caring". Or perhaps it's the unthankful that find such prying annoying, despite it being potentially good willed. Nevertheless, I need to learn to be more patient.

Toronto lake shore after a night of snowfall. I'm perpetuating the icy cold stereotype of Canadian winter, even though it's really not so snowy and cold all of the time. Comparing it with other countries, I now understand why it's called the vast great white up here. It is nice to be back home.

 Christmas illuminations at Tama Center
Despite it being only November, we all went to check out the Christmas illuminations at Tama Center after work. Somehow, perhaps because the cold crisp air had woken us up from the dreary work day, the bright lights were a very pleasant sight. There was even one real pine tree that presented us with a nice whiff of nostalgic pine scent. It all felt so good that it made us feel pathetic for finding so much pleasure in such clich?-ridden imitated Christmas cheer. But it really did feel good.

Seoul Sky It's amazing to see that despite all the buildings, the sky still prevails through. I wonder why I stopped noticing the sky in Tokyo? It's there as well, I'm quite sure of it. I just need to look up more.

Ahhhhh, what's going on? I am so excited about cooking and eating lately that I can't even sleep! My mind is preoccupied with plans of what to have for breakfast, what to make for bento, and snacks. Different possible types of onigiri dance in head, and eating them all will make me sick and gain weight, but I still feel like eating them all. And stews, hot pots, curries, pastas, even mabo tofu, I feel like making and eating them all. Is it possible that life's meanest joke could be the intake limit we have on food? So much food, so little time.
